Real Estate in Keswick, Virginia
The New York Times refers to the drive through Keswick “as one of the most scenic in America.” The eastern part of AlbemarleCounty is relatively undeveloped and retains much of its natural beauty. Rolling hills, wooded landscapes, horse farms and historic estates are what make this rural area something to talk about. This private, picturesque setting makes Keswick one of the most prestigious addresses in the county.

Residents of Keswick often visit shops in Pantops and on Barracks Road. At the foot of Pantops Mountain you will find just what you are looking for, and all with one stop. Pantops Shopping Center is home to Tuesday Morning, Roses, Rivanna Gear and Apparel, Lloyds Hallmark, Advance Auto and many more specialty shops and services.
Not far from Keswick and Pantops, you will find Barracks Road Shopping Center which dates back to the 1950’s and was one of the first in the country of such a notable size. Over the years it has grown to now include another section just north of the original complex, and today, a recent renovation leaves newcomers wondering if it was all just built. Barracks Road is one of my favorite places in Charlottesville to shop. It is a great place to come during the week with the kids. The sidewalks are wide, which allows them just a little more freedom. The variety of stores makes it easy to get errands done. You can literally buy a unique gift at a boutique store, mail a package at the Barracks Road post office, grab a bite to eat at one of many restaurants, stop in for story time at Barnes and Noble, drop off the dry cleaning, and pick one of two grocery stores to buy dinner. It is also a great place to window shop and grab a cup of coffee on nice afternoon. A full store listing can be found at the Barracks Road Shopping Center website.
The Keswick Club offers the Palmer Room, a casual English Pub style setting perfect for a lunch or relaxed dinner. Microbrews from Charlottesville’s own Starr Hill brewery can be enjoyed here and at the Palmer Room Bar.
Fossett’s Restaurant offers a more formal and romantic setting. This award-winning restaurant boasts panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and delicious food and beverages.
With relatively close proximity to the Charlottesville Downtown Mall, residents also enjoy a variety of restaurants just seven miles away.
The prestigious Keswick Club offers residents a picturesque backdrop for golf, tennis, swimming, exercising at the fitness club, or relaxing at the spa. The Keswick golf club reopened in 2014 after undergoing a modernizing renovation which will be appealing to amateur and professional golfers.
The tennis complex offers lighted courts and clay or hard surfaces for year-around play. Residents and members enjoy instructional programs from tennis veterans.
There are three swimming pools for members to enjoy, with the Horizon Pool being a favorite for most. This pool offers unimaginable views of the estate and is a must- see, particularly at sunrise.
The KeswickHallFitnessCenter offers a variety of classes for those who enjoy exercising with a group. There are also plenty of top-of-the-line machines for members to use. Personal trainers are available for members who wish to discuss a personalized fitness plan.
